Clubhouse

Happy Friday everyone! I can’t believe how quickly the weeks are passing by. Time flies when you are having fun. For me, this week involved a little less client work. Therefore I had some extra time to focus on Virteffic’s marketing and social media platforms. I finally got set up on the Clubhouse app.

What is the Clubhouse app?

Well, I am only just figuring this out myself. In short – Clubhouse is the exclusive, invite-only social networking app that’s suddenly popping up everywhere. At first, I thought it would be very similar to all those zoom meetings that are taking place, but it is an audio-only chat app. Therefore, you do not need to worry about what to wear or where to sit when you join the conversations. It connects people to listen to topics that are of interest, interviews, and discussions – and to also actually join into the conversation and speak to each other.

I very much enjoy listening in on all the interesting conversations in either English or Swedish. Working remotely, and being on my own in my home office, I love having the people talking in the background and listening to topics that I am interested in (entrepreneurship, marketing, traveling, health and fitness, food, networking, etc). The more interests I add to the Clubhouse app, the more suggestions and conversation rooms appear. You can also create your own rooms and invite people to join. I have missed all the networking events that stopped after the pandemic and love “meeting” all new people.

The app also gives me the opportunity of listen to “famous” speakers and influencers that I previously could “only” follow on Instagram. I have always listened to a lot of podcasts but this is live, spontaneous, interactive, and lets me join in the discussion.

How do I join Clubhouse?

At the moment, you can only join when you get an invite which is shared by a text message to your phone. When you get invited, you simply download the app and create an account (verified by your mobile phone number). Once joined, you get two invites that you can share. I believe the next step will be for the app to open up to everyone – unless they want to keep the “level of exclusivity” that the app currently has
