One of the most rewarding parts of my role is recognising the growth and success of our team. Today, I’m delighted to shine a light on Alice, who has recently been promoted to senior virtual assistant. Her journey with Virteffic reflects everything we stand for—flexibility, professionalism, and a culture that values people as whole individuals.
Balancing work and life with purpose
Alice joined Virteffic in July 2024. Like many who join our team, she was drawn to the flexibility of remote working. As a mum, the ability to build a meaningful career without missing out on important moments at home was a key factor in her decision.
As she put it: “Flexible, remote working has meant I haven’t had to choose between working and staying at home with my son.”
It’s exactly the kind of balance we aim to offer—empowering people to work in a way that suits their real lives, not the other way around.
A well-deserved promotion
Alice’s promotion is a reflection of her commitment, consistency and quiet determination. She approaches her work with care, focus and professionalism, all while balancing the demands of family life.
In her words:
“It’s very rewarding to be promoted at this point in my life. I put all my effort and focus into my work hours, and it’s rewarding when that’s recognised.”
That recognition is more than deserved.
A passion for minute writing
Alice has become a standout minute writer within our team—something she never expected to enjoy as much as she does. She’s found genuine satisfaction in the structure and clarity that minute writing offers.
“It’s rewarding to listen as boards and committees grow, celebrate wins, and resolve problems—and to be a small part of recording that journey.”
Her approach is thoughtful and methodical. She prepares skeleton minutes in advance, ensures alignment with the board pack, and listens to full recordings to capture the tone and detail accurately.
She also shared a piece of advice for anyone new to the role:
“Most minute writers use standard phrases that might look formal at first but are easy to learn. The key is to make the minutes clear, accurate and easy to follow.”
Embracing the freedom of flexible working
Remote work has allowed Alice to shape her day around what matters most. She enjoys spending daylight hours with her son and then focuses on work later, showing just how personal and adaptable a flexible schedule can be.
“I always struggled with being indoors all day in an office. I’m someone who needs to get outside every day, no matter what the weather’s doing.”
It’s this level of autonomy that we believe helps our team thrive, both personally and professionally.
Staying connected in a virtual world
Despite working remotely, Alice has built strong relationships within the team. We prioritise regular communication, virtual meetings and creating space for meaningful connection.
“We’re all working virtually, so no one is left out. We can catch up on messages when it suits us, and our team meetings give us the chance to properly connect.”
A culture that respects real life
What I love most is Alice’s description of our culture. At Virteffic, we understand that people have full lives outside of work. And we actively support that.
“Your responsibilities outside of work are recognised and accepted. It’s okay to bring your child to a meeting, and our calls often feature a cat, dog or baby. It’s great to be part of a business that understands you can do great work without having to sacrifice your personal life.”
Looking ahead
Alice’s promotion is a proud moment not just for her, but for all of us at Virteffic. Her talent, positivity, and drive are a true asset to the team, and I’m excited to see what she continues to achieve in her new role.
Congratulations again, Alice – you absolutely deserve this.
