When people talk about career progression, it is often framed around job titles or formal milestones. My journey at Virteffic has been different. My growth has been shaped by trust, capability and a steady expansion of responsibility, not by rigid frameworks or predefined timelines.
I have been part of the Virteffic team for two and a half years, during which time both the company and my role have developed significantly. I joined in an administrative support capacity with a focus on minute writing, and over time my responsibilities have expanded into a broader corporate governance role. This now includes preparing board packs, acting as a key point of contact for clients, contributing to board effectiveness reviews, supporting business development and client onboarding, and working closely with the wider team. I have built strong and enduring client relationships, developed a broad range of technical expertise and been actively involved in internal training and development initiatives.
Growing through everyday work
My progression did not come from a formal programme or an annual appraisal cycle. It happened through the work itself, open communication and a shared understanding of where my strengths lie. As trust grew, so did my responsibility, moving naturally from administrative support into a wider governance role that touches client service, internal collaboration and continuous improvement.
Pride in quality and client relationships
What I enjoy most is working closely with clients to ensure a consistently high standard of service. I take pride in producing quality work and in knowing that my contribution supports strong client outcomes and long-term relationships. Working with a diverse portfolio of businesses helps me continually deepen and broaden my company secretarial and corporate governance expertise, which in turn strengthens the judgement required to support boards effectively.
Flexibility that supports performance
The flexibility Virteffic offers is something I value greatly. Having previously worked in a traditional office‑based role, I appreciate the difference that being able to choose when and where I work can make. This autonomy allows me to maintain a healthy work–life balance and enables me to perform at my best. This flexibility is not about lower expectations. My role carries significant responsibility and standards remain high. The difference lies in trust, which creates the conditions for focus, productivity and consistently high quality work.

It is shaped by capability, judgement and the trust that comes from consistent delivery. My experience shows that it is possible to build a meaningful governance career without sacrificing balance or autonomy, and that progression can be both ambitious and sustainable.
