Monthly Wellbeing Theme – Posture

At Virteffic, the well-being of our staff is a top priority. Virteffic was set up as Tess wanted more flexible working hours and a better life-work balance. Everyone who works for Virteffic is in complete control of their own hours. This opens up opportunities for those who can’t or don’t want to work in a traditional 9-5 office role.

Since we started to recruit and Virteffic grew into a team of more than just Tess, the focus has always been to look after and appreciate the team members. Our sports, social and well-being committee was set up early to help with this.

Posture 

At Virteffic, our work is all about sitting at the computer and many of us are sitting for longer periods. 

The theme this month is posture and all team members have completed training to learn that how you sit when you are working matters. 

Putting in the effort to improve your posture has huge payoffs. Poor posture can lead to aches and pains, stiffness in the body and headaches. A good posture can not only prevent injuries, it can also lead to increased energy levels, improved circulation and digestion and increased self-confidence. It helps you to develop strength, flexibility, and balance in your body.

It is important to take a moment to review and reassess your work station. A couple of points to consider:

  • Ensure your screen is high enough – you want your chin to be parallel with the desk, not looking down.
  • Both feet flat on the floor with your knees at a 90 degree bend.
  • Don’t slouch! Make sure you are sat back into your chair and your screen and keyboard are at a comfortable distance from you.

Small adjustments can be a big difference and remember to take regular breaks. Standing up and taking a walk around the room or to go refill your water are a great way to move! At Virteffic we work when we want to and we are free to take as many breaks as we want and need.

At Virteffic, the wellbeing of our staff is a top priority. Virteffic was set up to offer team members more flexible working hours and a better life-work balance.

Since we started to recruit and Virteffic grew into a team of more than just Tess, the focus has always been to look after and appreciate the team members. Our sports, social and well-being committee was set up early to help with this.

Working flexibly allows our team members to make time for their wellbeing and mindfulness on their schedule, and we have a monthly wellbeing topic focus to make sure we always keep it forefront in our minds.
