Senior delivery with opportunities to develop leadership skills and mentor colleagues.
Virteffic provides governance and company secretarial support to boards, committees, governance teams and organisations across a broad range of sectors. Our team works alongside clients to deliver practical, high-quality governance services that help organisations operate effectively.
As a Senior Governance and Secretarial Support Officer, you will manage a varied portfolio of governance work, including board support, company secretarial activities, governance administration and professional minute writing. You will also contribute to quality assurance, continuous improvement initiatives and the development of junior team members.
This is a professional governance role requiring sound judgement, excellent organisational skills and the confidence to work independently while maintaining exceptional standards of client service, accuracy and attention to detail.
Why this role is different
Many governance roles focus on supporting a single organisation. At Virteffic, you’ll work across a diverse portfolio of clients, boards and governance environments, giving you exposure to a wide range of sectors, governance challenges and ways of working.
This variety provides continual opportunities to broaden your knowledge, develop new skills and build experience while contributing to meaningful work that helps organisations strengthen their governance and decision-making.
You’ll be trusted to manage your own workload with a high degree of autonomy, supported by a collaborative team and encouraged to share ideas, drive improvements and contribute your expertise as the business continues to grow.
Typical tasks and responsibilities
This is a highly flexible role where you choose when and where you work, provided you are working in a private and secure environment and consistently meet agreed deadlines. Your responsibilities will vary across clients and projects and may include:
- Supporting board and committee meetings
- Preparing agendas, board packs and governance documentation
- Drafting accurate, professional and regulator-ready board and committee minutes
- Maintaining governance records, statutory registers and action logs
- Providing company secretarial and governance support across a diverse client portfolio
- Contributing to governance projects and client initiatives
- Supporting quality assurance, proofreading and document review processes
- Sharing knowledge and providing guidance to junior team members
- Helping develop templates, processes and governance best practice
- Maintaining exceptional standards of confidentiality, accuracy and professionalism
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced governance professional who enjoys taking ownership of their work, delivers consistently high standards and thrives in a collaborative, client-focused environment.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Experience in governance, company secretarial or board support services
- Excellent minute writing and written communication skills
- Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities
- Sound professional judgement and decision-making skills
- The ability to work independently whilst remaining collaborative
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- A professional, client-focused approach
- A willingness to support, mentor and develop colleagues
Experience within regulated businesses, financial services, funds, trust, corporate services or other professional services environments would be advantageous but is not essential if you can demonstrate transferable governance experience.
Career development
At Virteffic, progression is based on capability, professional judgement, quality of work and the contribution you make to our clients and team, rather than simply length of service.
As we continue to grow, opportunities may include:
- Review and quality assurance responsibilities
- Leading governance and improvement projects
- Managing client relationships and portfolios
- Training, mentoring and supporting colleagues
- Specialist governance consultancy assignments
- Leadership and management opportunities
We actively encourage continuous learning, professional development and internal progression, creating opportunities for our team to expand their skills, build their expertise and develop rewarding long-term careers with Virteffic.
