About the role
Location: Jersey or Guernsey (mainly working remotely)
Work Hours/Week: Part-time, variable (ideally at least 20-25 hours per week requested)
Employment Type: Zero-hour contract
Eligibility: Applicants must have the right to live and work in Jersey or Guernsey. We are unable to consider candidates outside these locations.
This role is suited to experienced corporate governance professionals who are confident supporting board and committee processes in regulated environments.
You will be responsible for producing clear, accurate and defensible minutes, supporting company secretarial activities and working independently across a portfolio of clients.
This is not a purely administrative role. It requires judgement, discretion and a strong understanding of how boards and governance frameworks operate in practice.
The role at Virteffic
This is a flexible role where you manage your own schedule and working environment, provided deadlines and client expectations are met.
While flexibility is central to how we work, this role also involves being part of a collaborative team supporting clients with time-sensitive governance matters.
We do not expect constant availability. However, there should be a professional willingness to support urgent client needs from time to time, where this can reasonably be accommodated.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who brings strong technical capability, sound judgement and a professional approach. Given the nature of our work, this role requires:
- Strong experience in minute writing, company secretarial work and corporate governance administration
- A professional, discreet and client-focused approach when working with directors and senior stakeholders
- The ability to work independently while remaining engaged as part of a collaborative team
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients
- A high level of integrity, confidentiality and attention to detail
- A willingness to support the wider team where needed, including occasional short-notice meeting attendance
Who this role will suit
- You are an experienced governance professional looking for flexibility
- You are confident working independently without close supervision
- You take pride in producing high-quality, accurate documentation
- You are comfortable working across multiple clients and environments
- You value consistency, reliability and professional standards
Typical tasks and responsibilities
This is a highly flexible role where you choose when and where you work, provided that you are in a private and secure environment and meet agreed deadlines. As part of the role, you will:
- Attend board and committee meetings on occasion, either face-to-face in Jersey or Guernsey or virtually during standard business hours.
- Draft accurate, clear, and well-structured minutes from meetings attended or from recordings provided.
- Prepare and support the preparation of board packs, meeting papers, resolutions, and wider governance documentation.
- Support clients with company secretarial and corporate governance requirements.
- Work across a varied portfolio of clients while maintaining discretion, confidentiality, and consistently high professional standards.
- Apply governance frameworks, internal processes, and quality standards to ensure consistency in service delivery.
- Communicate with clients professionally and clearly, setting appropriate expectations around deliverables and deadlines.
- Record time accurately using Virteffic’s systems to ensure transparency and correct allocation of client hours.
- Collaborate virtually with the wider team, contributing to knowledge sharing, consistency, and quality improvement.
- Support internal projects aligned to your skills and interests, including template development, process improvement, and governance research.
- Maintain a secure and compliant working environment, ensuring data protection and confidentiality at all times.
