Different experience. Shared standards.
Virteffic provides flexible governance resource, corporate governance and company secretarial support to boards, committees, governance teams and organisations across a broad range of sectors.
We are growing our team and are currently looking for one, potentially two, new team members across Jersey and Guernsey. However, we are deliberately not recruiting to one narrowly defined job description. We know that talented people do not always fit neatly into predetermined roles. Someone may bring excellent administration, organisation and meeting support skills with the potential to develop further in governance. Another person may already have substantial corporate governance or company secretarial experience and be ready to take greater ownership of complex client work.Someone else may bring specialist professional minute-writing capability. We’re interested in the person behind the job title.
The eventual role, title, level and responsibilities will reflect the successful candidate’s experience, capability and career aspirations.
Two broad routes
There are currently two broad routes we are particularly interested in exploring. The responsibilities and level of the eventual appointment will depend on the experience and capability of the successful candidate.
Governance & Secretarial Support
This route may suit someone with strong administration, organisation, meeting support or professional services experience who wants to contribute to high-quality governance delivery and develop broader governance expertise.
Your work could include:
- Coordinating board and committee meetings
- Preparing agendas, papers and meeting packs
- Maintaining action logs and governance records
- Coordinating deadlines and follow-ups
- Supporting the production of minutes and company secretarial processes
- Assisting with governance and board effectiveness projects
You do not need to arrive as an experienced governance professional. We would, however, expect strong organisational skills, accuracy, accountability and good written communication.
Experience in financial services, professional services, funds, trust or corporate administration may be helpful, but relevant transferable experience is also welcomed.
Strong administration and an opportunity to develop governance expertise.
Corporate Governance Professional
This route is aimed at people with established corporate governance, company secretarial or board support experience who are comfortable taking greater ownership of client delivery.
Your work could include:
- Managing board and committee meeting cycles
- Preparing and reviewing governance documentation
- Drafting high-quality board and committee minutes
- Providing company secretarial support
- Working directly with directors and stakeholders
- Contributing to governance reviews, improvement projects and quality assurance
We would expect sound professional judgement, the ability to manage complex work and confidence in dealing with clients and senior stakeholders.
Relevant professional qualifications are welcomed, although experience, capability and professional judgement will also be considered.
Established governance expertise and greater ownership of client work.
Professional minute writers are also of particular interest
Professional minute writing is an important part of Virteffic’s work.
Excellent minute writers come from different professional backgrounds. Some are experienced company secretarial and governance professionals who regularly support complex board and committee meetings. Others develop specialist minute-writing expertise from strong writing, meeting and organisational backgrounds.
We are interested in both.
Good minutes are more than a record of what was said.
They require an understanding of the discussion, the ability to identify what matters and the judgement to produce a clear, balanced and accurate record.
At a developing level, we can support someone in building their drafting capability and governance knowledge.
For an experienced appointment, we would expect someone to understand complex discussions, distinguish discussion, challenge, decisions and actions, and apply appropriate professional judgement when preparing minutes.
What we’re looking for
The technical requirements will depend on the role and level, but some qualities matter across every part of Virteffic.
Ownership and organisation
Taking responsibility, managing priorities, meeting deadlines and following through on commitments.
Professional standards
Caring about accuracy, quality, confidentiality and information security.
Judgement and communication
Knowing when to ask questions, challenge or escalate a matter, and communicating clearly with clients and colleagues.
Collaboration and development
Supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge and being willing to learn and develop.
You do not need to tick every technical box.
What matters is being open about your experience, your strengths and the contribution you could make.
Why work at Virteffic?
Different clients. Different challenges. Opportunities to keep developing.
Many governance and company secretarial professionals spend much of their careers supporting one organisation or working within one established operating environment.
At Virteffic, our team has opportunities to work across different clients, boards, committees and governance projects. That variety provides exposure to different sectors, governance challenges and ways of working.
Variety of work
Broaden your experience by supporting different organisations, boards and governance projects.
Greater flexibility
Work with greater autonomy while remaining accountable for agreed client and team commitments.
A connected team
Work independently while remaining part of a team that shares knowledge, supports colleagues and makes time to connect.
We place considerable trust in our team. Our working model is designed to provide flexibility without compromising the quality, reliability and professional standards our clients expect.
Flexibility, trust and accountability.
We believe people can do excellent professional work without following a traditional office-based routine, provided that client commitments, communication and quality remain at the centre of how we work.

Learning, development and progression
Joining a flexible business should not mean being left to work things out alone.
Development at Virteffic can include practical client experience, mentoring, knowledge sharing, feedback and learning through Virteffic Academy.
Depending on your experience and interests, there may be opportunities to develop technical governance knowledge, professional minute-writing skills, client relationship management, governance project experience or broader leadership responsibilities.
Career development does not need to look identical for everybody.
Some people want to deepen their technical expertise. Others want to specialise, develop leadership responsibilities or gradually broaden from governance support into more substantive governance work.
We want those conversations to reflect individual strengths and aspirations alongside the needs of the business.
