Why and How
There is a recruitment crisis in the Channel Islands, whilst we also have a high number of ‘non-employed’ individuals. The high childcare costs disincentives women, in particular, from working full-time or working at all. By offering unique roles, we access a greater pool of people.
I work extremely hard to build a business model and strategy that genuinely puts employees first and provides opportunities for those who cannot commit to static working hours whilst cultivating an ethos of independence and flexibility. By entrusting everyone with complete flexibility to set their own hours and working environment, we have revolutionised how our business operates. As a result, Virteffic has experienced and qualified individuals with regulatory expertise from lengthy careers in the Channel Islands finance industry. The working model creates much better morale and atmosphere for both workers and clients – and better results too!
Virteffic has become a trusted support firm that assists businesses of all sizes, including many larger regulated firms (funds and trust companies, wealth advisors and insurance companies), doctor practices, non-profit organisations, and charities. Our clients are based in Jersey and Guernsey, the Cayman Islands, and the UK.
How it started
Having graduated from a university in Sweden, I moved to Jersey in 2006 to gain experience to complement my academic credentials. What was meant to be temporary turned out to be permanent, and Jersey is now my home.
In 2020, after 15 years of working in corporate, trust, and fiduciary environments in Jersey, I left employment and my position as a regulated director and launched Virteffic Limited. My decision to quit was motivated by my desire for independence and flexibility. In 2021, I decided to take on new staff members to meet the demand for secretarial support services, and the team has continued to grow since then.
Virteffic is trusted by businesses of all sizes, including many of the larger regulated firms (funds and trust companies, wealth advisors, and insurance companies), doctor practices, and non-profit organizations. Our clients are based in Jersey and Guernsey, the Cayman Islands, and the UK.
Our services are focused on corporate governance and secretarial skills, which has allowed me to put my ICSA qualification to good use. Throughout the last three years, my role at Virteffic has given me the opportunity to attend and listen to countless board meetings across various businesses and sectors. Over the years, our team has drafted thousands of minutes and prepared hundreds of board packs. We have helped businesses with their board effectiveness reviews, corporate governance framework, as well as day-to-day administration support. Since 2022, we have also provided training, courses and presentations.
My thoughts and priorities
The opportunity to expand and take on a wider team of professionals was a great opportunity after an incredible year as the only virtual assistant at Virteffic.
